I’m not sure about withdrawing money from ATMs in Korea with a foreign credit card or personal account since I have never done that abroad. I usually prefer to exchange currency personally to save on fees. However, from what I’ve briefly researched, withdrawing cash from Korean ATMs using foreign credit cards isn’t as difficult as one might think. Exchanging currencies like British pounds, US dollars, or euros should not be difficult. However, it might be cumbersome to find currency exchange offices in downtown Seoul, so I recommend exchanging money at Incheon Airport and then taking the bus. If you arrive at Incheon Airport before 8:30 PM, the currency exchange offices should be open. The currency exchange services at the airport are operated by official banks, so you shouldn’t be at a particular disadvantage. However, since most services in Korea accept credit card payments, depending on your spending habits, there might not be a need to use the exchanged won.
